This is a genuine mechanical chronograph, not a quartz watch dressed up as one. The Sugess S423 runs on a Seagull ST1901, a hand-wound column-wheel chronograph movement descended from China's historic 1963 pilot watch calibre. Column-wheel chronographs are prized for their smooth, precise pusher action.

The pilot-inspired dial pairs bold Arabic numerals with a partially skeletonised, luminous face for good legibility, behind a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. The 40-44mm stainless steel case comes with a genuine leather strap and buckle.

Being hand-wound, there is a small daily winding ritual, which is part of the appeal if you want a proper mechanical connection to your watch. Water resistance is 5 Bar (50m), fine for knocks and rain but not swimming.
