This is the pilot watch with something to watch. Under the dial, a small metal turbine spins as the movement runs, like an engine turning on your wrist, and it gives the seconds a bit of theatre that an ordinary sweep hand never could. Around it you get a big, readable pilot layout: Arabic numerals, an inverted triangle at 12 o'clock that is a classic pilot-watch cue, and blued and rhodium hands you can read at a glance. The Night Flight Black dial is shown, and other colour options are available.

Inside is a Seagull ST3620, a super premium Chinese hand-wound movement. You wind it with the crown, so there is no battery, and the winding becomes a small daily ritual. The open caseback lets you watch it work, and double sapphire crystal keeps the glass clear and scratch-resistant. BGW9 Super-LumiNova on the hands and markers gives a bright ice-blue glow in the dark, so it stays easy to read at night.

On the wrist it is a big pilot watch, 12.4mm thick, with an oversized non-slip crown and a deep brown riveted leather strap. Now the honest bit. Hand-wound means it needs winding: forget it for a day or two and it will stop. It is rated to 100m (10 Bar), but with a leather strap and a crown you pull out to wind and set, we would keep it to rain and hand washing rather than swimming. It is also a large watch, so check the size against your wrist before you buy. If you want a grab-and-go watch with no winding, an automatic or quartz will suit you better. If you love the mechanical feel and a bit of cockpit character, this delivers.
