The 1963 Pilot is one of the most recognisable designs to come out of China's watchmaking industry, originally made for Chinese Air Force pilots in 1963. This is not a fashion watch dressed up to look vintage: it is built around a real Seagull movement.
The Seagull ST1780 automatic has 28 jewels and a 40-hour power reserve, with a power reserve indicator sub-dial that shows how much wind is left, plus small seconds and a pointer date.
The 316L steel case and sapphire crystal weigh just 69g, making it a comfortable everyday watch with retro military character. Water resistance is 5ATM (50m): fine for rain and splashes, not for swimming. It is a good entry point into serious mechanical watches.
